FIREMAN

16

Fire. The great leveller. When greeted with the uncertainty of it, the average person makes a terrifying choice: the neighbours are gone – do we stay and fight, or run? Will it be our home stolen from us next?

Not so this warrior. Uncertainty greets him daily. He chooses to face the inferno with grit and determination. Adrenaline, the heat of the moment at the call-out. Will they get there on time?

He knows the stakes. Property, livelihoods gone in an instant. People’s lives. He carries this weight. It is his burden. Who else really empathises?

The crew. United by common experience, camaraderie and mateship. Bonds forged from fire. They are responsible, yes, but proud.
